BOOK 1  REVIEW - 'AWAKEN THE GIANT WITHIN.'
 BY TONY ROBBINS
 PART 7 B

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO MAKE YOURSELF FEEL GOOD?

One of the first questions I ask my clients is, 'What do you want in life?' Interestingly enough I get the same answer 99% of the time, 'I just want to be happy.' For some reason, we have been programmed to believe that happiness is something that mystically lands on our laps. It doesn't! Happiness is like everything else, you have to make conscious decisions and act in order to experience it.

- Happiness is not a destination it's a journey.
- Happiness is not tomorrow it is now.
- Happiness is not a dependency it is a decision.
- Happiness is what you are not what you have.

In the book, Tony asks whether you know how to make yourself feel good. Good question, right? If you want to be happy an excellent place to start is to be aware of what ticks your boxes. Here are a few questions I would like to ask you:

- Have you intentionally made feeling good a daily habit?
- Have you ever sat and thought about what makes you happy?
- Are you dependant on others regarding happiness?
- Are you dependant on food, alcohol, smoking,  basically any addictions when it comes to your satisfaction?

A lot of the people I coach are dealing with depression. A simple definition of depression is living without feeling happy, a dark and scary place to be. But there is hope, a simple understanding of how happiness works often gets the ball rolling.

FACTS ABOUT HAPPINESS

1. You have to know what makes you happy.

2. The things that make you happy should not be dependent on things or people. Don't get me wrong its lovely to have someone in your life that makes you feel merry. However, it becomes very unhealthy when your happiness depends on anybody or anything. You are not in control anymore.

3. You need to plan your joy. It's essential to integrate 1-2 activities a day that make you happy. Everybody's different, I like swimming, walking, reading, writing and cross stitching.
Tony rightly states if you don't have a plan for pleasure you will have pain.
